Yordanos Alemu is an electrical and power engineer who works in the renewable energy sector in Ethiopia. She has two and a half years of experience, working on projects involving, Solar Home System (SHS) products and off-grid energy technologies.
Yordanos graduated with honors from Adama science and technology university with a BSc in electrical and computer engineering(power engineering) in 2018. She admits when she first started her studies, power engineering was not her first choice. But she quickly fell in love with it and went on to become one of the brightest and hardworking students in her class.
Currently employed as an electrical engineer at Dan Energy Research and Development company, Yordanos’s work focuses on electric circuit board design and assembly. When asked what she loves about her job, she says, “it is all about the significance of my job. Energy is one of the most valuable things in life, and bringing light to those who are in the dark delights me”.
Yordanos aspires to be an expert in renewable energy concerning emerging technologies and to play a role in giving clean and efficient energy sources for those living in the dark. Her goal, as she says, is not only to create a fruitful career but also to contribute to the advancement of technology and the development of Ethiopia’s entire technology market.
