Description 

Ethiopian Women in Energy Association (EWiEn) is  organizing an 3rd edition annual Ethiopian women in energy  2023 event in collaboration with Ethiopian-German energy cooperation and Energizing Development (Endev). The event will be conducted on 23th of November 2023 to create awareness, provide a place for stakeholders to engage in energy-gender nexus discussions such as professional growth pathways and strategies to elevate women in the sector. Furthermore, the event will serve as a knowledge exchange platform for information on initiatives, jobs, and other business opportunities.

The main program of the event is the awarding ceremony for influential women in the field of energy. 

In addition, there will be an extended coffee break during the event where participants will get a chance to visit an exhibition and network. The exhibition will promote businesses, projects, and ideas by women-owned energy businesses and entrepreneurs, EWiEn partners, and other stakeholders working in the energy sector in Ethiopia.

The primary objective of the event is to acknowledge and motivate influential women in the energy sector. Accordingly, the nomination of influential women in the energy sector will be conducted, and three women will be selected and awarded for their significant contributions to the energy sector. The award will increase women’s influence in the energy sector as well as highlight their contributions. 

In addition to giving the women the recognition they deserve, the event will provide an exceptional opportunity for the awardees to showcase their achievements, attract more clients, and strengthen their careers. The event will also be a showcase for stakeholders in the energy sector to recognize the contribution and influence of women in the sector.

The secondary objectives of the event are:

● To provide a platform for women entrepreneurs, partners, and other organizations to showcase their businesses, projects, and initiatives.

● To empower women in the energy sector and provide a networking platform for women energy professionals.

● To demonstrate the value/use of the annual event to stakeholders and promote the sustainability of the event.

● To attract new partnerships and strengthen existing ones, to ensure the sustainability of the event.

 The event approaches

The Annual Women in Energy Event will be a half-day physical event comprising  of members of the EWiEn, energy sector specialists, government officials, NGO leaders, representatives from international and local energy solution providers, academic institutions, gender advocates, and energy product traders. The event will be hosted at the Skylight in Addis Ababa and will feature an award ceremony for influential women in the energy field, an exhibition by different entrepreneurs and stakeholders in the sector, a networking session, and will be closed with lunch.
